Our office is located along Bethlehem Pike in Flourtown in Montgomery County, PA.  I can assure you this is a hazardous road for pedestrians to traverse, even within legal crosswalks.  There are a number of particularly dangerous areas along Bethlehem Pike.  A lot of businesses have narrow driveways between buildings that exit directly onto Bethlehem Pike, crossing an area of sidewalks.  Pedestrians walking to and from Planet Fitness or the Acme shopping center often try to get some exercise with a good walk but are taking their lives in their hands.  Cars shoot out of these side driveways and if a pedestrian is unlucky enough to be crossing the area of the driveway at that moment, the result can be disasterous.  

I have represented many pedestrians who have been struck by cars exiting these driveways, including a terrible accident at the exit of Dunkin where the individual was struck and knocked out into Bethlehem Pike.  By the grace of god, he did not get struck by oncoming traffic on the road but he suffered serious injuries requiring surgery.  Drivers coming out of these business driveways don't always realize there is a sidewalk.
