I am all about YOU and YOUR CASE.
You have been in an accident, and you need a lawyer who understands you and your injuries. Many of my clients are active folks of all ages who are or were involved in walking, running, biking, skateboarding, surfing, yoga, weight-lifting, racquet sports, and countless other activities. Many enjoy a very physical lifestyle and have physically or mentally demanding jobs. An accident can deprive someone of the treasured daily activities that they look forward to. An accident can cruelly remove a breadwinner from the workforce and impose a terrible financial strain on a family. What is my priority? Getting you back in the saddle and enjoying all the things you deserve to enjoy in your life. I understand you need to earn money and that recovery of your lost wages and getting you back to work are critical. But so is getting you the best possible financial award for your pain and suffering. I won't rest until I know you have received the very best possible financial award in your case.
Why do I understand you and your case better than most lawyers? Because I am not only a lawyer with over 30 years of experience, I am an athlete and a lifelong fitness devotee. I am fortunate that I have not been in any terrible accidents myself, but I have had four major joint surgeries which took me away from all of my hobbies and sports. I know what it takes to make a full recovery from injuries and surgeries, and it isn't easy. I know how critical it is to find the best possible medical care and the most experienced surgeon as well as the best physical therapy available. I fully understand the level of pain and the quantity of hard work required to come back from major injuries, as I have been there and done that. I am fortunate to say that I still enjoy working out 5-7 days per week (or at least that is the goal), either playing racquet sports, walking the dog, biking, body surfing, or lifting weights, which keeps me relaxed, healthy and mentally sharp for you as well as for me.
I became a personal injury lawyer to help people like you. How did I end up in this profession? I grew up immersed in the insurance industry. I worked for a privately owned insurance claims company and a huge insurance company prior to attending law school well over 30 years ago. What I saw and heard during my experiences in the insurance industry convinced me that injured people are at a complete and total disadvantage when dealing with an insurance company. Many of my clients tell me that when they first started discussions with the insurance company after their accident, the adjuster sounded friendly, trustworthy and concerned. Unfortunately, this "nice" adjuster has been trained to sweet-talk injured people into saying and signing things that are terribly damaging to the injury claim. Keep in mind the insurance company is in business to MAKE MONEY, not to make you whole!
My own father, an insurance adjuster and owner of an independent claims adjustment company for over 40 years, used to tell me the methods adjusters used (and still use) to save money on a case. He said that adjusters were encouraged to go directly to the hospital to try to get signatures to settle cases or take statements from injured people BEFORE they had a chance to get any legal advice and when they were sometimes half conscious. This is not as common as it used to be, but only because the public is better informed and legal advice is much more accessible today than forty years ago. However, this type of conduct by adjusters is deplorable. I have had cases where the adjuster went directly to the home of the injured person without an appointment, knocked on the door and took a statement (before I was hired) while my client was under the influence of narcotic pain medications. An adjuster has the right to do this if you voluntarily let them in and IF YOU DON'T HAVE A LAWYER. Most people don't realize they don't have to speak to the adjuster on the phone or let her in to take a recorded statement and sign blanket HIPAA forms, but they do so innocently believing the adjuster is trying to help them with their injury claim. The implicit message the insurance company wants to impart is that they will take care of you, so you don't need a lawyer. In fact, in the past, an unnamed, nationally well-known insurance company was taken to court for sending injured victims a letter telling them they did not need a lawyer and that the insurance company would take good care of them. I saw these letters as my clients showed them to me. Needless to say, the courts put an end to that.
The bottom line is, I want to help guide you through this process to help you make the best possible physical and emotional recovery you can and to avoid being a victim twice! I protect you from the money saving antics of the insurance company to make sure you get the money you deserve for your pain, suffering and out of pocket loss, including your lost income. You need a lawyer you can trust and who has many years of experience handling not landlord-tenant disputes or debt collection cases, but EXCLUSIVELY dedicated to handling personal injury cases. You have probably heard the expression "Jack of all trades, master of none". That is true in the legal profession. If the lawyer or firm you are looking at lists their areas of expertise as criminal law, personal injury, trusts and estates etc. they are not focused on personal injury cases.
Keep in mind; I do not take every case. I limit my caseload so that I can provide personal attention to your case. Most of my cases involve severe injuries such as concussions and TBI (traumatic brain injury), significant disfigurement injuries involving surgery or serious scarring, severe spinal injuries and fractures. I will never hand off your injury case to a less experienced associate lawyer who does not understand you. When you hire me, you get me, and that is not true with many other larger law firms advertising on billboards or the back of the city bus. I am 100% dedicated to getting you the best possible financial recovery for your injuries and to getting you back on your feet so you can enjoy your life again. The millions of dollars I have recovered for my clients over the years are the result of hard work and intense dedication to my clients and their cases.
So, whether you have an undying passion for racquet sports like I do or you just want to be able to walk the mall with your friends or chase your kids around, let me help you return to what you love and get you compensated for your injuries.
