Bad car accident in Philadelphia leaves our client with a closed head injury
October 2020
Our client, a young female college student, was commuting to her home after class when her car was broadsided at a high rate of speed by another car that went through a red light in an intersection. She struck her head on flying debris and the door jam as a result of the impact. After a momentary loss of consciousness, she awoke to the defendant yelling at her in a road rage and trying to leave the scene. Fortunately, the police were near the scene and saw the accident. They stopped the defendant who tried to give them fake ID. When everything was sorted out, we found insurance and pursued a claim for pain and suffering against the defendant. Unfortunately, like many, the defendant had inadequate limits of $15,000 which did not even cover the full cost of our client's vestibular therapy from her concussion. But our client, who lived with her mother, was lucky. Her mother had purchased $25,000 of stacked underinsured motorist coverage and was full tort. We won the full policy limits from the defendant's policy plus most of the $50,000 from her mother's uninsured motorist coverage. The client is now on her way to finishing her degree thanks to reimbursement of tuition for her lost semester.
