Dog Attacks Family and Their Dogs next door
June 2018
Our clients, a mother, father and adolescent son were quietly enjoying a meal with their dogs in their back yard. Suddenly, two pit bull mix dogs crossed from an adjoining property and savagely attacked our clients' dogs on their own yard. The adolescent son, in a fit of foolish bravery, tackled one of the dogs which was biting and shaking a blind, elderly dog which our clients were dog-sitting for a family member who was out of town. The boy pulled the pit bull off the frail elderly dog, but it was too late. Meanwhile, the pit bull had bitten him and his mother as they desperately tried to rescue and protect their dogs. The owners of the attacking dogs were completely unrepentant but we pursued a claim against their insurance and won a sizeable sum for the boy and his mother and procured the value of the deceased dog for the family member in this tragic case. The minor's funds are safely invested in trust for the boy pending his 18th birthday.
